The Official Observatory Yields its First results
2009.09.19
While we've already carried out quite a few imaging sessions in various locations, this September marks the first time we use our official observing location for imaging sessions.
In two seperate sessions which were more-or-less of the experimental nature, we've notably caught a nice mosaic of a 98% full moon, and an interesting picture of our "second neighbour", the Triangulum Galaxy.
Now that we've gotten familiar with the setup over there, sessions should become easier and easier to carry out. Look for more to arrive from the clear black skies of Bromont, Québec!
Ste Adèle the next best spot!
Two of our most interesting pictures this year were shot not at our official location in Bromont, Québec, but up north in Ste Adèle, Québec.
Two incredibly distant objects were shot in a session that lasted from midnight to sunrise. The famous Whirlpool Galaxy yielded a cool image while the Deer Lick Galaxy Group gave us a view of objects 40 to 400 million light years away!

The New Season is Afoot
2009.03.17
This winter has been a cold one here in the Montreal region and it's been very difficult to setup as much as an observing session, let alone a full blown imaging configuration.
But now spring is rolling in at incredible speeds and we're already starting to have good enough (warm, clear skies) weather to get back on the horse and start imaging again.
Look for more new stuff to be posted within the coming weeks as the new season is afoot!
CCD Imaging has begun!
2008.11.03
Three months after the launch of this website and we're already taking pictures of objects thousands of light years away,
deep in the dark of space!
Check our Photography page to see what we've been up to in October and early this month. Notably, we've managed to take pictures of M57 the Ring Nebula, M27 the Dumbell Nebula and M42 the Orion Nebula (Specifically the Trapezium region where many stars are forming).
BDO Space Observatory Launched!
2008.08.25
It's a whole new journey for BDO as the crew takes on the biggest thing
they could ever think of: space. The Universe. Everything.
Join the same crazy crew that has brought to you quality insane comedy
and continuous radio broadcasts for over 9 years as they cross new
boundaries, see deep into space and venture in a whole new world.
Presently, the BDO Space Observatory benefits of an awesome site, but
the large aperture telescope in use is only enjoyable by the human
eye that's operating it, given we have not yet picked our CCD imaging camera.
It's only the beginning... join us....

What is the BDO Space Observatory?
The BDO Space Observatory is our space observation site in Bromont, Québec. On clear nights, the skies there provide us with a rather clear view of the Milky Way, along with the impressive deep space objects we can catch with large aperture telescopes.
While the region is not completly free of light pollution, the conditions are simply unbeatable as far as accessible amateur astronomy can go.
